Volumetric Weight (also called dimensional weight) is a pricing technique used by courier companies to calculate shipping charges based on the package's volume rather than its actual weight. This is calculated using the formula: (Length × Width × Height) / Volumetric Factor. Courier companies charge based on whichever is higher - actual weight or volumetric weight. This ensures fair pricing for large but lightweight packages that take up significant cargo space.
